What is The Guitar Woodshed Virtual Music Stand?
The Guitar Woodshed Virtual Music Stand is a web application that allows you to share fretboard diagrams, chord charts and tab with other people over the internet in real time. It was created to help guitar tutors teach lessons online. The Virtual Music Stand makes it easy for a teacher to show a pupil where to put their fingers on the fretboard and which notes to play.
Do I need to download any software to use the Virtual Music Stand?
The Guitar Woodshed's Virtual Music Stand runs on Adobe Flash player. Adobe Flash Player is a web browser plugin that is used on some of the most popular sites on the web. Most modern browsers have this plugin already installed so it is likely that you will already have Flash player installed on your machine. The Virtual Music Stand does not require any other software downloads to work.
Will the Virtual Music Stand work with my web browser?
The virtual music stand works on any web browser that supports Adobe Flash player including Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer.

I'm not a guitar teacher - what can I do with the Virtual Music Stand?
The Guitar Woodshed Virtual Music Stand is a great resource for all guitarists. It gives you access to our library of hundreds of chord and scale positions. You can look up chords and scales and view them on our virtual fretboard, chord charts or tab. The Virtual Music Stand allows you to create jpg files of these diagrams that you can download to your desktop. Perfect if you want to keep a record or share via email or elsewhere. Our chord and scale libraries are different to most online chord libraries as they are constantly being added to by members of The Guitar Woodshed.com.
Do I need to enter any payment information to sign up for the free trial?
No you don't need to enter any payment information. The free trial is free. All you need to do to register is choose a username and password and enter a name and email address. We use the email address to verify that you are not a bot. :)
Can I add scales to my virtual fretboard?
Yes - we already have over thirty different scales in our database and more are being added all the time. (Check out the full list here.) You can add a scale or position to your virtual fretboard with a single click. Signed up members can add new scales and positions to the database.
How many chords do you have in your database?
We have well over one thousand unique chord positions in our database and the number is growing every day. You can find the up to date number from the chord counter.
Where can I see a list of all the chord positions in your database?
Right here! This page has a list of all the chords we currently have in our database - click on a chord name to see chord diagrams of all the different voicings.
You don't have a chord or a scale that I need - what can I do?
You can either contact us and we can add scales and chords for you, or you create an account and add the chord or scale yourself.
